Corporate Parity’s 3rd Annual Global Smart Manufacturing Summit took place in the incredible location of Berlin. As this summit had taken place previous years, expectations were high. This summit did not disappoint. Anna Beklemisheva, Senior Event Production Manager – Corporate Parity & Uwe Kueppers, Chairman – EMEA – MESA International, worked to create a truly unique & industry focused summit.
The 3rd Annual Global Smart Manufacturing Summit began with highlighting the practical aspects of manufacturing with a tour of the BMW Motorcycles Plant, Berlin Spandau. The tour started the dynamic summit with a practical view of Smart Manufacturing. All attendees got to experience some of the latest automotive designs being produced on site. The group was the guided through the various areas allowing time for questions to be asked.
Day 1 continued on with the same practical insights as the tour with a highlight presentation from Paul Mairl, Vice President Programme Management & Lean – GKN Powder Metallurgy AG. His presentation captivated attendees with incredible tech for use in production. The content was admired by all & opened the floor for an interactive discussion during the Q&A section. Each presentation & case study that was analysed brought a new element to the summit.
Day 2 focused on case studies & examples starting with a demonstration of a new platform for production with Ron Zahavi, Chief Strategist for IoT Standards & Consortia, Azure IoT – Microsoft Corporation, giving a true understanding to this type of tech. Each speaker on this day provided attendees with innovative approaches to changing technology for the manufacturing industry. Not only did each speaker do this, but they also showcased exactly what this tech can do to improve an organisations function.
Day 3 was all about breakout & panel sessions aimed at networking & interactive discussions amongst all attending the summit. Dr Mass gave an incredible presentation on smart products using food production as an example of an analysis of food types. Delegates were really engaging with this topic. This was an advanced approach to manufacturing production used with a great example of a potato. The highlight panel discussion with a theme of ‘Inside Smart Factories’ which extended over its allotted time due to such intense interest.
