Dr. Evangelos Avramakis, Director at the Swiss Re Institute will be speaking at Big Disruption Summit.
This cross-industry event will take place on 11th-12th April in Amsterdam. It shall bring together the greatest minds leading the digital revolution, and become a platform for guests from across the globe to exchange ideas and insights, and find solutions on how to stay vital in the changing environment. The Summit will also feature its’ very own Disruptive Innovation Excellence Awards.
Evangelos will deliver a keynote presentation on ” Why IoT will be THE game changer in insurance”, with focus on a variety of IoT enabled sensors being already applied in the insurance industry, from telematics solutions in the automotive industry to the variety of wearable technologies. He will also demonstrate how these sensors
derive more risk related insights on customer behaviour and thus, how the aggregation of insights delivers network insights. Therefore, understanding risks in a more granular level will lead to new consumer interaction triggers to better manage their risk but also to improve the existing relationship. As new data driven technology players are interacting with their consumer in a more meaningful and convenient way, customer experience will be the new “battle field” challenging existing and long-established relationships. Such players aggregate a number of services on platforms or ecosystem and start disrupting the market.
He is a design thinker and a holistic, interdisciplinary, and implementation-oriented strategist and doer. Thus, among other tasks he liaises strongly with academia, insurtech, and start-up ecosystem. His main focus covers forward looking market developments, digital ecosystems, omni channel management, and business model innovation. He worked several years in strategy consulting as well as in the life and health primary insurance industry in various senior managing and steering positions such as marketing & sales, business development, customer and experience management, and market strategy. Prior to this he worked as a strategic consultant mainly in the international healthcare, life sciences, and financial services sector focusing on go to market,
restructuring, post-merger integration, innovation, and growth initiatives. Evangelos has studied sport sciences (minor in mathematics and fine arts), business information technology as well as business administration. He holds a doctoral degree in business administration.
Evangelos has been always very visionary and passionate about new technologies impacting our daily life and environment, but was never an early tech adopter. He started programming early with his brother at high school, but developed this passion further towards designing & arts, combining these interdisciplinary activities in sport shoe design as a biomechanical researcher at the ETH Zurich. However, this career path showed limited opportunities in Switzerland leading finally to the insurance industry where he focusses on rather
forward-looking models in the industry.
